BRIAN BOTKILLER ANNOUCES THE “BOT BOX” ANTHOLOGY BOX SET

(ALBUQUERQUE, NEW MEXICO) brian botkiller, electronic musician and producer, has announced the release of the BOT BOX, an anthology and collection of his works from 2002 to present.

The limited edition box set Includes brian’s first CD, “The Sky EP”, a limited run copy of the “Against all odds” EP, “Welcome to Postwar USA”, (brian’s 2010 release, the title track of which features a collaboration with En Esch, Slick Idiot frontman and former KMFDM member), a live concert DVD, and a copy of Vertigo Venus’ “SOS” (brian is the drummer In the band).  It also includes buttons, stickers, a t-shirt, and a USB flash drive containing over 20 unreleased and rare tracks and remixes, not available anywhere else.  The music explores many musical styles, including Industrial, Techno, Chiptune, Acid-Jazz, and more.

The box set is limited-edition, and hand made by the artist for each fan who orders one.  As such, the production of the box can take up to a week.  It Is handsomely priced at $50 (or more, if the buyer wishes), and available via brian’s bandcamp site at http://brianbotkiller.bandcamp.com .  brian will donate 5% of All BOT BOX purchases before December 31st, 2011 to a charitable organization helping animals.  In addition, all buyers will receive a one-year subscription to brian’s digital releases.  They will receive rare tracks, pre-releases, and more before the general public.

Hey all,

Tomorrow, I will be doing a workshop on Ableton Live at QUELAB (1122 2nd st., Albuquerque, NM), for “Music of the Electrons”, a showcase of electronic music creationism and information.

I speak at 7pm, the event is $10, and there will be lots of good stuff about electronic music and other goodies!

This month, are exploring all things audio. Check out Ehren Saavedra’s circuit bent rhythmboxes, speed control for tape players, and learn how to chop and screw. Snoop on inducted sound with Adric. Trace Norris will be showing us how to make electronic drum pads and integrate them with software. Brian Botkiller will be showing off some of his music creation process. You’ll also get to play with synthesizers, off-the-shelf, homemade and otherwise. Make a simple speaker with household materials and more!

de la Mancha has released FMMF, a 4 operator FM (Frequency Modulation) synthesizer plug-in for Windows, written as an entry into the KVR Developer Challenge 2009.

The waveforms, algorithms and envelopes in FMMF are all shown graphically, with the envelopes allowing dragging of nodes and clicking to change contour. Special attention has been paid to the envelopes to allow you to customise them in many ways, such as the number of stages, the contour of each stage, sustain and repeat points and tempo-sync. There are envelopes for the volume of each operator, the pitch, and the effects section (filter, distortion and delay) all with velocity and key tracking. Further modulation comes in the form of LFO’s for the pitch and effects section, with many LFO waveforms available, including my favourite, randomising.

For further sound design potential you have a low pass filter, a multi-mode distortion and a flexible delay (with comb delay option). An arpeggiator let’s you add even more movement to create rhythmic sequences.

FMMF features

* 4 Operator FM Synthesis instrument with 17 FM algorithms.
* 11 different waveforms per operator, with note sync option.
* 7 Multi-segment Envelopes (up to 32 stages) for amp, pitch and effects modulation.
* 3 LFO’s for pitch and effects modulation.
* All envelopes can be free or tempo-sync, each stage can have it’s own contour.
* Envelopes can have user defined sustain and repeat points with flexible locking and zeroing options.
* LFO’s can be free or tempo sync, with 20 waveforms and phase & note sync options.
* Each LFO has it’s own ADSR envelope.
* Arpeggiator with 6 modes and adjustable tempo-sync, note length and octave range.
* Resonant low pass filter with key and velocity tracking, can be modulated by envelopes or LFOs.
* Distortion effect with 18 flavours, can be modulated by envelopes or LFOs.
* Delay with comb delay option, size, feedback and damping, modulated by envelope or LFO.
* Harmonics can be adjusted from 1 to 256, with limit on frequency beyond Nyquist.
* Polyphony adjustable from 1 to 16 voices.
* Portamento time.
* 64 presets by brian botkiller covering many styles.

FMMF is available as a freeware VST instrument plug-in for Windows PC.
